A posting to Brunei is a very unique and exciting one. Not only that it allows you to work with the Gurkhas and experience their traditions, customs and celebrations but also the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of leisure pursuits and to travel extensively around South East Asia.

Brunei International Airport operates several international flights to destinations such as Malaysia, Australia, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Thailand , China, Korea, Japan, Philippines, and Dubai. The national airline is Royal Brunei. The airport is approximately an hour away from Tuker Lines Camp.

 

Traveling to other international destinations can also be done via Miri International Airport in Miri, Sarawak, located just over an hour away from Tuker Lines.

LOCAL TRANSPORT

​

Getting around can be relatively difficult if you don't drive, however here are a few options available:

 

Bus

​

There are local buses ( purple buses) traveling from Seria town to Kuala Belait town centres via Jalan Mualana and Jalan Utara (Panaga Road). The buses leave every 10-15 minutes and pass main places such as the Officers' Mess, X1 & X2 estates, Panaga Club, The NAAFI and Garrison Swimming Pool, From the NAFFI bus stop, it's only a short walk to the Thrift Shop, PCMF, Hornbill School, Tuker Lines Camp, H15 & J16 estates, the Chit Chat Community Centre, and Ramdhani.

There are many bus stops en-route and you can also ring the bell or inform the driver to get off at your preferred location.


From Tuker Lines SFA to Seria Town - You can catch a bus from the bus stop in front of Chautari.

From Tuker Lines SFA to Kuala Belait Town - Wait for the bus on the opposite site of Chautari

From Mumong (x1) SFA to Seria Town - You can get on a bus right outside the X1 gate.

From Mumong (x1) SFA to Kuala Belait Town - Cross the road and wait for the bus on the opposite side of the main gate.

Dart Taxi

​

Dart is a Brunei Transport booking company. Their application is available on Google Play Store as well as the App Store.

Border Crossing

DRIVING TO MIRI, MALAYSIA

​

Take a drive to Sungai Tujoh border which is approximately 20 minutes from KB ( Kuala Belait ) town or 30 minutes from Tuker Lines. Sungai Tujoh - Miri borders open from 0600 - 0000hrs everyday. 

 

There is some documentation you must bring along with you as well as Brunei (VES) and Malaysia (VMS) vehicle passes and two toll fees are to be paid along the route both in Brunei Dollar and Malaysian Ringgit. There are a few currency exchange places around Kuala Belait and Seria towns you can stop by to exchange some money before starting off your journey.
