British Forces Brunei post office is located in the Chit Chat Community Centre. The BFPO system can be used to send and receive post from the UK. All of your mails will go through your work address with the exception of bills from local companies.

Cash Withdrawal 

Ration card are used for all serving and civilian personal entitled to withdraw money from the Force Post Office. One Ration Card per person or per family for married personnel will be issued. It will be required to withdraw cash from the FPO. Serving personnel or dependants are all required to bring their ID Card along with the issued Ration Card for cash withdrawal direct to the FPO. 

Monthly Withdrawal Limit    - £1000 GBP

Daily Withdrawal Limit         - maximum amount of £250 GBP per day 

Exchange Rate 

The GAR (General Accounting Rate) is an exchange rate used by MoD and is reviewed and adjusted on a monthly basis. All money withdrawn from the FPO is always done at the GAR rate. As this changes on a monthly basis, the value of the £1000 GBP entitlement will change in Brunei dollars each month.

Prohibited Items

The Following items are not to be sent via the BFPO mail system, for further advice, please contact the Post Office located in the Chit Chat Community Centre.

  • Compressed gases - butane, oxygen, propane, camping gas cylinders, gas lighter refills, aqua lungs, aerosol (including medicinal and toilet articles including aerosols such as hairsprays, perfumes, shaving foams, medicines, drugs and nail varnish.

  • Corrosive - acids, alkalines, wet-cell batteries, vinegar, photographic chemicals, mercury or any items containing mercury.

  • Infectious substances - bacteria, viruses, medical and pathological specimens, except under the IPBS rules

  • Oxidising materials - bleaching agent, peroxides and chlorate

 

  • Poison -Arcenic, Cyanides, insecticides and weed killers.

  • Explosives - fireworks, sparklers, flares, toy caps and ammunition

  • Perishable foods - dried fish of any kind, dairy products of any kind

  • Weapons - knives, Khukuris
