BFB HQ have tried all we can to get our personnel an exemption to quarantine when they arrive back in the UK. We have fallen short and can only apologise.
We remain fully engaged and will continue to fight on two fronts: into UK Government through the FCO and MoD to get Brunei added to the exempt countries list; and into our Chain of Command (Regional Command) to get Defence policy adjusted so that movement from Brunei can attract a waiver.
A letter from GOC Regional Command explaining why it is not currently possible for him to grant a waiver based on existing Defence policy will be sent through the Chain of Command – it emphasises that:
- the quarantine period is not leave - it is a duty.
- all additional costs of quarantine will be net by individuals’ gaining Units.
- all welfare support will be provided by individuals’ gaining Units.
